Before and After Care

Before Your Appointment

  • Brush and floss your teeth thoroughly before your appointment to remove any surface plaque and debris.
  • If possible, have a professional dental clean prior to your whitening treatment for optimal results.
  • Avoid smoking or consuming dark-coloured foods and drinks (such as coffee, red wine, tea, or cola) on the day of your appointment.
  • If you have sensitive teeth, please let us know before your treatment so we can tailor your experience accordingly.
  • Ensure your lips are moisturised and free from cracked skin for maximum comfort during the session.
  • If you have any dental concerns such as cavities, gum irritation, exposed roots, or recent dental work, please consult your dentist before whitening.
  • Please arrive on time and allow yourself to relax—this is your time to glow.

Important to Note

Teeth whitening works on natural tooth enamel and may not lighten crowns, veneers, fillings, or bonding. Results vary depending on your natural tooth shade and lifestyle habits.

After Your Appointment

To maintain your brightest results and keep your smile glowing for longer, follow the correct aftercare after your treatment.

After teeth whitening, the pores of your enamel remain temporarily open, making your teeth more vulnerable to stains and discolouration. We recommend following the White Diet for the next 24–48 hours to protect and prolong your whitening results.

Immediately After Treatment

  • Please do not eat for 2–3 hours after your appointment.
  • Sip water only during this time if needed.

Non-Staining Beverages

Safe options during the first 24–48 hours include:

  • Water
  • Sparkling Water
  • Milk
  • Vodka
  • Gin
  • White Wine
  • Champagne

Beverages to Avoid

Please avoid the following, as they may stain or irritate freshly whitened teeth:

  • Soft Drink
  • Citrus Drinks & Juices
  • Energy Drinks
  • Tea
  • Coffee
  • Red Wine
  • Beer
  • Coloured Mixers
  • Cocktails
  • Dark Spirits

Foods to Avoid

For best results, avoid heavily coloured or staining foods such as:

  • Coloured Fruit & Vegetables
  • Dark or Milk Chocolate
  • Tomatoes & Red Sauces
  • Curries
  • Pickles
  • Berries
  • Butter
  • Margarine

Extra Tips for Long-Lasting Results

  • Brush gently twice daily using a soft toothbrush.
  • Drink staining beverages through a straw where possible after the first 48 hours.
  • Avoid smoking or vaping, as this can quickly dull results.
  • Maintain regular top-up treatments to keep your smile fresh, bright, and radiant.

Your smile will continue to settle beautifully over the next 24 hours - enjoy your fresh glow.

Tooth Gem Pre-Care Guide

To ensure the best possible bond and long-lasting results from your tooth gem application, please follow these simple pre-care steps before your appointment.

Before Your Appointment

  • Brush and floss your teeth thoroughly before arriving to remove any plaque or debris.
  • Please ensure your teeth are clean and free from food particles prior to your treatment.
  • Avoid using whitening strips or undergoing teeth whitening treatments for 48 hours prior to your appointment.
  • If you are planning to have both teeth whitening and tooth gems, whitening is recommended before gem application.
  • Please arrive with clean lips and minimal lip product for comfort during your treatment.
  • If you have braces, loose dental work, cracked teeth, cavities, or gum irritation, please let us know prior to booking.
  • Tooth gems can only be applied to natural teeth, crowns, or veneers if suitable and assessed at your appointment.

Important to Note

  • Tooth gems are applied using a safe dental-grade bonding material and do not damage the tooth when correctly applied or professionally removed.
  • Longevity varies depending on placement, aftercare, eating habits, and oral hygiene.
  • Please arrive on time and relaxed—this is your time to add a little sparkle to your smile.

Tooth Gems Aftercare Guide

To keep your new sparkle secure and your smile looking flawless, follow the correct aftercare after your tooth gem application.

Your tooth gem is bonded using a professional dental-grade adhesive, which continues to strengthen over the first 24 hours after treatment.

Immediately After Treatment

  • Please avoid eating for 1 hour after your appointment.
  • Avoid touching, tapping, or playing with your tooth gem. The adhesive needs time to fully set.

First 24 Hours

  • Please avoid hard, crunchy, or solid foods - soft foods only during the first 24 hours.
  • Avoid consuming highly acidic drinks such as soft drink, citrus juices, or energy drinks.
  • Do not brush the treated area for the first 24 hours to allow the adhesive to fully cure.
  • Avoid using an electric toothbrush for 24–48 hours after treatment.

Ongoing Care

After the first 24 hours, you can return to your normal oral hygiene routine.

  • Brush gently twice daily.
  • Floss carefully and consistently to prevent plaque build-up around the gem.
  • Maintaining good oral hygiene will also help prevent the enamel surrounding the gem from yellowing over time.
  • Avoid biting directly into very hard foods where possible to help preserve the bond.

Removal Information

Tooth gems are a non-invasive and reversible treatment. If you decide to remove your gem, we recommend visiting your dentist or dental professional.

We do not recommend removing your tooth gem at home.

If Your Tooth Gem Falls Off

As tooth gems are a foreign object, there is a chance the tooth may naturally reject the gem. Complimentary replacements are available if your gem comes away within the first 30 days.

If this happens, one of the following is normal:

  • The gem may fall off and leave adhesive residue on the tooth. This is harmless and can be safely polished away by a dentist.
  • The gem may come away cleanly with the adhesive attached to the gem, leaving no residue behind.
  • The gem may come away and leave the silver backing or adhesive behind. This can be safely removed by a dental professional.

Final Note

With the right aftercare, your tooth gem can remain beautifully secure and sparkling for months. Enjoy your fresh glow and elevated smile.
